A
little about me
What
would the world be without its oceans? And what would the oceans be
without
their creatures?
Discovery
of nature and exploration of creativity began early to play an
important role in my life.
Could I
remember my time in the cradle – for sure there would be lots to tell!
By the way, this cradle was gained in 1961.
In
younger years I wanted to be a zoologist or archaeologist. Narratives
from people like Grzimek and Schliemann fascinated me and I gobbled
down Heyerdahls stories. I seldom missed
watching
one of
Cousteaus programmes
on tele. Books written by Jules Verne, Jack London and others fired my
imagination and spiced everyday life.
But as so
often happens, things turned out differently and I completed a
4
year apprenticeship as a Goldsmith here in Switzerland. After a few
years at the workbench my curiosity to see the world awoke.
This
passion finally led me in numerous extended journeys via Australia,
New Zealand and the islands of Oceania to Indonesia, where snorkelling
soon wasn’t enough anymore. To experience the immensity of its
underwater world, I began to
Scuba
dive.
On
Bunaken, Sulawesi, I produced my first very own bubbles – at times
huge ones in great numbers, especially when during the last dive of
the course we unexpectedly swam into the nesting area of a Titan
Triggerfish couple...
Further
training in Tulamben, Bali, allowed me to dive in deeper regions and a
few years later I gained my divemaster certificate in Pulau Weh,
Sumatra.
Apart
from a tropical rainforest maybe, there is no other natural
environment so rich and varied in its life forms as a healthy coral
reef. It’s wonders are fascinating and enchanting, impressively show
us the interaction of all life.
And so
today, this love for the sea and its inhabitants initiated the making
of my pieces of jewellery and I try my best to let this joy flow into
my creations. I do hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.
It is my
wish to expand the collection in time to come. So please visit my site
again, now and then.
Finally
this: I deliberately don’t like to polish my jewellery, as it
detracts too much from their elegance and form, also fine details
would get lost.
A big
Thank you goes to all those who supported me with advice and deed.
Be good to life and let life be good to you
